As I am typing this up, I am still struggling in my mind on what to do with kohlrabi. As usual with anything bulb shaped, I’m terrified they will taste like turnips or that they will be a pain to chop or grate like celeriac. However, I am intrigued since I’ve heard they are very similar to broccoli and they are more green so possibly easier to deal with.
I feel like I’ve been straying from giving prices, so I made sure to note that these were $3.98 for a bundle of them. Weight and sizes must dictate how many per bundle because I just got two with three attached and another with two attached.
I have read all over that you can eat the bulb and the leaves that are attached but the leaves on all of them weren’t looking too great and I had actually been waiting on catching some in stock for quite a while. I chopped some of the leaves off though because they were basically just sticks with puffs on them.
I got the fennel vibe when dealing with the stalks though I didn’t smell a hint of licorice so I think we’re safe.
When I looked up if kohlrabi can be eaten raw though, I learned it tastes almost like a radish which y’all know I am all about. I’ve been eating quite a few salads lately so maybe I can sprinkle some kohlrabi on top? Oh man, I probably shouldn’t be sharing my brainstorming with you if you like surprises.
It could still change though because I have absolutely no idea what to do with kohlrabi but I am excited to get to looking around and see what I can find out. Go out, buy some and come try it with me.
